High school dropout statistics show an alarming increase in the number of students who give up on education every year. Triggered by several reasons, the dropout dilemma is one of the major concerns of the US Department of Education. Statistics show that the biggest reason for teens dropping out of high school is lack of parental support followed by poverty and unplanned pregnancy. Dropping out from school may seem the easy way out to teens but in the long run, illiteracy brings with itself unemployment, and poverty leading many towards crime and drug and alcohol abuse.
